(More customer reviews)We are hoping that replacing the Sony KDS lamp with the ORIGINAL brand lamp, not a generic, is the answer to longevity. We purchased our Sony KDS-R60XRB1 about 4 years ago, and have left it on an average of 4 or more hours per day (we cook, and use the TV/computer as tools; we are not always glued to the tube). It has been perfect, but the lamp burned out without warning after 3 years. The only forwarning of lamp failure is a darker picture. When it goes, the green lamp on the Sony TV starts blinking, and there is NO picture. we replaced it with a generic lamp (from Amazon or an affiliate), at a cost of about $90. The lamp lasted less than 9 months. This time, we purchased an original equipment, Phillips lamp, and hope that it will last as long as the original lamp. It was about $15 more than the generic lamp. The removal and install are a snap. Amazon delivered the product immediately, as has been our general experience. We will report back on the life span of this lamp. Overall, we find Amazon a totally reliable source for both information and service. CB and JB
