(More customer reviews)I bought this item to replace the lamp in my Sony model KDF-50E2000 TV which went out nearly 4 1/2 years after buying the TV (this lamp is for the 46" and 50" models as well). The lamp housing in my TV is in good condition so I saw no need to purchase a lamp that included the housing and pay more for it. Removing the lamp from the housing is easy, requiring only a Phillips screwdriver and pliers to remove a small nut that connects one of the two wires to the lamp itself. There are three screws to remove to get the lamp out from the main housing unit, and three screws to remove the bulb from a smaller plastic frame. Installaton of the new lamp back into the housing unit is a snap and an easy task for anyone with basic skills working with hand tools. About a 10 minute job if that long. Once put back together, the unit slides easily back into the TV through a side door. When I turned on the TV I had a nice bright picture. Remember to go to the TV's onscreen Menu and enter that you've replaced the lamp (Menu -> Settings -> Lamp Replacement), I believe the TV will track how long the lamp has been in use. That's it. I recommend buying just the lamp and save the money. You can do it!
