(More customer reviews)This is a genuine manufacturer's part as opposed to another lamp being sold on Amazon that is not and which people have complained about. I own an HD1000, so this lamp fits more than just the HC3000U. Match the part number of the lamp itself and you shouldn't have any problems.
While I had expected to see some sort of on-screen warning about the lamp getting low or approaching the manufacturer's lifetime of 3,000 hours, I never did. Instead I turned the projector on one day and simply got no projection. There were some lights flashing on the projector itself which indicated the lamp needed replacing.
Replacing the lamp was simple. I mounted my projector on the ceiling, so once I'd had it off there are a couple of screws to remove to get to the lamp then another couple of screws holding the lamp in. From there, it pops right out. Slide the new one in, and you're done.
No problems with this new lamp; the projector is like new again.
