(More customer reviews)I first bought this projector from a friend of mine two years ago. He bought it for a entertainment room in 2004, brand new, but the room was never finished and the unit never used. He sold it to me and I stored it away because I didn't have a space for it yet, but I knew I would be moving within two years and I wanted one badly. As soon as I moved into my new place I popped it up on the wall and bought a screen and WOW, this thing is amazing. The noise level is a little higher than I preferred, but the picture quality is stunning. We are talking crystal clear. I've put in HD movies and HD XBOX 360 and both are so vivid! A very expensive unit. I once saw a 2003 price tag of 10k. I see most sites now selling it with a range of 4800-5200 dollars. Expensive, but as far as quality is concerned, worth the buy in my opinion. For more product information there is a good product review from 2003 athttp://www.laaudiofile.com/tdpmt8.html

TDP-MT8 is a digital light-processing home theater projector. It combines a nifty design and a high functionality with the comfort you need. Faroudja (Sage) FL12300 DCDI+ deinterlacer/scaler/enhancer with adaptive luma/chroma enhancement and frame rate conversion ensures the most film-like image from video sources. To reduce the "rainbow effect" in DLP projectors, the TDP-MT8 uses a color wheel with six segments to ensure natural, saturated colors with great contrast. And to allow flexibility in installation and positioning, the TDP-MT8 can be placed above or below (+/-20 degrees) the screen with no image distortion.
