(More customer reviews)OK, where do I start? First, I paid for overnight UPS shipping, and that was no problem. The box appeared undamaged. I was expecting to see some kind of Phillips marking on the box, but there wasn't any. Hmmmm! When I opened the box, the cage and bulb assembly was well packed in foam padding. However, when I removed the assembly I noticed the bulb was loose in its cage. Can you hear it? Rattle...rattle. Well, I obviously couldn't install the assembly in that condition. So, I spent the next 30 minutes trying to re-secure the bulb in its cage. I finally had to use the front piece from the old lamp cage, because the front piece on the new cage wouldn't hold the bulb securely in place. I did finally succeed, and the lamp works; but for how long? If this is a new assembly, which the listing indicates, I wonder what kind a yahoos are assembling these things? Incidentally, the bulb didn't have any Phillips marking on it either. So, did I actually get a Phillips bulb that I specifically chose to order and paid more for? Who knows??? The bottom line is I gave it 2 starts because my TV is working again. However, Because of my experience, I'll never order anything from this retailer again!
Update (02/04/11) Well, we just got our TV back from the repair shop. They determined the bulb was bad. So, we're out over $300 for another bulb. From now on, I will never order another bulb on Amazon, even if the listing states it's 24K gold plated!!! I'll order directly from SONY.
