It is basically two big pieces of metal hinged together with a large screw mechanism to adjust tightness. It is strong enough to attach a magic arm and a large DSLR on it with no problem. It will securely hold just about anything. Combined with a ball-head, you can mount a flash to almost any hard surface with an edge. It has a standard tripod threaded hole and a lockable stud hole.
