(More customer reviews)I use this adapter to connect a component video cable to the vga port on my Optoma EP1690. It works perfectly. The plastic is a little bulky, though. On my projector, it encroaches on the space the audio in should use, especially if you have a straight plug. I found that an audio plug that bends sideways, like some adapters, fits ok on the EP1690. But if you have a separate sound system, you don't even need to worry about the audio in on the projector.
If you have enough width to fit this adapter, it works perfectly for converting from component to HD-15.
