Bulb was Philips in original packaging, which arrived in good shape via USPS. Only issue - ordered on a Saturday and used 'special offer' code 4FRL58TP for 'expedited handling.' I figured out after placing my order that this company is not open on the weekends - so I emailed asking what was special about the special offer code. I received a response promptly on Monday morning from Kim Kirton, C.S. Supervisor, letting me know that 'The code is for expedited processing and we now have that for all customers. It takes 3-5 business days for your package to arrive.' Based on my overall satisfaction with the service I received from Storefrontoutlet in general - gaming folks with the 4FRL58TP code is an unwise annoyance. Web buyers are pretty savvy overall - don't screw with us, please - just keep up the good service and we'll recommend you and be back ourselves.
Notes on installation: This is the bulb only. You will have to remove the old bulb from its housing and replace. When removing the housing from the TV I recommend having a vacuum cleaner on hand and vacuuming away the inevitable build-up of dust as you work. This will minimize the likelihood of dust getting on the prism behind the light bulb housing. Removing the bulb from the housing requires removal of the screw that holds the power socket to its mount. Once the socket is freed from the mount the front of the bulb housing can be unscrewed and removed. As the bulb is pulled out the excess power cable can come through as well - as the socket is now free to move up against the outside of the housing. There are a few good utube videos of this procedure. Some companies selling replacement bulbs talk about the need for wire cutters - DON'T do it, don't cut the power wires - you don't have to...
Storefrontoutlet gets high marks from me for a great price, providing a true OEM part, reasonable shipping times, and customer service who will respond. They also have a one year warranty - better then the 90 days to 6 months offered by many competitors. One other note - both Philips and Osram make OEM bulbs for Sony TVs. Philips has the better reputation (unfounded, but that's the perception). I found that several other stores offered the customer the option to choose between Philips and Osram - but then up charged the Philips when you get to the checkout page. Bas***ds! Storefrontoutlet said Philips and they meant it, with no up charge.
Lastly, and many other reviewers comment on this, you will find as I did that the TV will be noticeably brighter with the new bulb. I was amazed at how degraded the brightness had become over the three years I operated with the original bulb. The lesson here for me was that I will replace the bulb every two years or so before waiting for it to fail. And to have a replacement bulb on hand....(the troops were not happy without our primary TV for four days).
