(More customer reviews)I have a Sony KDS 50A3000 SXRD rear projection TV. I bought it back in December 2007. I used it a lot... the lamp that came with it burnt out after about 38 months. This lamp + housing is exactly what you need if you need to replace yours in your A3000 series rear projection TV. It is super simple and just takes about 5 minutes total to have the lamp out of the shipping packaging and installed into your TV... The housing allows you to slide the new lamp right in... I was not sure what the installation process would have been w/o the housing, but I didn't care to spend time investigating. If you have any doubts, search for the 50a3000 manual online and they have instructions.
FYI - for the others out there who were foolish enough to buy an extended warranty from Sony for your rear projection TVs - the lamp is not covered! I flipped out at them on the phone for a good 30 minutes when they told me that... but I'm getting off track here. This lamp+housing is about $50 cheaper than buying it from the service/reseller vendor that Sony support recommended to me in my area.
