Through internet searches, I was pointed to the idea that perhaps the 15,000 volt lamp had given out. These days when electronics stop working, your first thought is to throw it out and shop for a new one.
In this case I got the insturctions on how to remove the bulb, then did an internet search on a replacement, was directed to my favorite site, AMAZON and there it was. $142 to fix a $2,000 TV. I ordered it with "ONE CLICK" and 5 days later it appeared at our door. I installed it and the TV works and is brighter and clearer than ever befor...............
