In theory, you could point the projector at a slight angle and tighten up the ring on the swivel mount to hold the projector at that angle. In practice, the plastic materials in the swivel mount do not allow it to be tightened secure enough to maintain that angle over any length of time. The slightest vibration - or gravity itself - will cause the ring around the swivel mount to loosen its hold. The project won't fall, but the swivel mount will rotate to settle at a more natural angle that gravity wants to hang the projector.
